1. Definitions
1.1 ‘The Student’ refers to the person or persons being tutored by the Tutor.
1.2 ‘The Tutor’ refers to Dr Shaheda Mirza.
1.3 The ‘Client’ refers to the parent or guardian with parental responsibilities for the Student if she is less than 18 years old. If the Student is 18 or over it refers to ‘the Student’.
1.4 ‘The Fee’ refers to the hourly rate agreed between the Client and the Tutor. These are displayed on the ‘Tuition Fees’ page. Please see link below.
2. Acceptance of these terms and conditions
Commencement of tutoring shall be deemed to be acceptance of these terms and conditions by the Tutor, the Client and the Student.
3. Lessons not attended by student
Lessons not attended by the Student without the Tutor receiving at least 48 hours prior notice shall be charged at the full rate, unless the cancellation is due to an unexpected emergency (or illness), in which case there will be no charge. Please inform Tutor as soon as you know you are unable to attend. If such emergencies occur three times or more, the Tutor has the right to terminate any agreements.
Number of cancellations (except for end of year exams, mock exams and summer holidays) need to be kept to a minimum. If the number of cancellations is unreasonable, the student may lose her/his slot (an average of 5 or more cancellations in 6 months is considered unreasonable).
4. Cancellation of lessons by tutor
The Tutor may cancel lessons by giving 48 hours prior notice to the Client in which case no fees shall be charged. In case of an unexpected emergency or illness, the length of notice may be shorter.
5. No warranties
The Tutor makes no promises or warranties with regards to a Student's performance as a result of any tutoring provided.
6. Termination
The tutoring contract may be terminated by the Client or the Tutor by giving one week’s written notice (a text message is acceptable).
7. Group tuition
Please note the tutor reserves the right to add new students to a group as and when they come along (maximum 5 students). Parents/students will be notified of any changes in advance. Fees will depend on how many students attend each lesson. For further details please visit the ‘Tuition Fees’ page.
8. Payment of fees
Payments by bank transfer must be cleared into the Tutor's account before or on the day of the lesson. Account details will be provided in due course.
Late payment admin fee: Parents who repeatedly fail to pay tuition fees unless reminded, will be charged an admin fee of £2 for each message requesting payment.
9. Students are expected to be punctual.
Students using online tuition need to be ready with their Zoom account active on their laptop/PC at least 2-3 minutes prior to the start of the lesson.
10. Medical Conditions & Emergencies
The Tutor takes no responsibility for the safety of the student in her/his own home, however reasonable steps will be taken to contact parent/emergency services should an emergency arise during the lesson.
11. © All rights reserved: All materials, including class notes provided on PPT presentations are for the sole use of the student who has attended and paid for the lessons/courses. Such notes and any other material provided by Dr Mirza may not be copied, photographed, photocopied or otherwise reproduced without her written permission.
This also applies to any information appearing in this website, including photos (taken by the Tutor), student notes and the logo.

The Tutor is an independent contractor and not an employee of the Client.
