About Me
Dedicated, Passionate Private Tutor
I am a qualified teacher with over twenty years experience of teaching/tutoring science subjects. Having worked in both state and independent schools, I have extensive experience of preparing pupils for public examinations with an excellent success rate. Vast majority of my (mixed ability) A-Level students achieved grades B to A* and my GCSE students achieved grades A-A*/7-9.
2022-2024 A-level results (number of students achieving each grade): 5 A*, 6 A, 2 B, 1C & 1D.
2022-2024 GCSE results (number of students achieving each grade): 4 grade 9, 13 grade 8, 5 grade 7, 4 grade 6 & 1 grade 5.
Working as an examiner with two of the most popular UK examination boards has also provided me with the skills to help my students improve their exam techniques and gain top grades.
Being a former medical research scientist, I am passionate about my subjects and I believe this enthusiasm is instinctively transferred to my pupils. My lessons are well prepared and interactive. I explain difficult concepts thoroughly, making sure my pupils not only learn the principles of science but are also able to understand and apply them in unfamiliar contexts. Where appropriate, I provide relevant notes.
